- Recovered Empire BlueCross BlueShield insurance card belonging to W. David Bauer. The card is issued to David W. Bauer and is warped, partially melted, and covered in dirt.
- Historical Notes
- Red Bank, New Jersey, native David Bauer lived in Rumson with his wife, Virginia, and their three children. He worked as a managing director and head of sales at eSpeed, a Cantor Fitzgerald subsidiary. An athlete who had played college and professional football, David competed in a triathlon the weekend before September 11. On that day, he was at work on the 105th floor of the North Tower. He was 45 years old.
