Pillow
- Description
- White fabric tribute pillow with white lace trim created in memory of Asia S. Cottom and Sara M. Clark. "In Loving Memories | of | Sarah M. Clark | and | Asia Cottom" is adhered to the front of the pillow in red felt cut-out letters. "Sara" is misspelled on the pillow with an "h" at the end. Small red felt books and little red birds are also attached to the front. The back of the pillow is covered in handwritten messages of condolence and love.

- Born in Silver Spring, Maryland, Asia Cottom lived in Washington, D.C., with her parents and brother. A member of her church’s dance troupe and choir, this sixth grader at Backus Middle School had been chosen to attend a National Geographic Society field trip to California. On September 11, Asia was heading there aboard Flight 77 with her teacher, Sara Clark. She was 11 years old.
Born in Gastonia, North Carolina, Sara Clark lived in Columbia, Maryland, with her fiancé, John. She had raised two children. A public school teacher for 36 years, Sara taught sixth grade at Backus Middle School in Washington, D.C. On September 11, Sara boarded Flight 77 with one of her students, Asia Cottom, for a field trip to California sponsored by the National Geographic Society. Sara was 65 years old.
