- Metal security bollard recovered from the World Trade Center site, heavily rusted and damaged, and attached to another bollard by a large chain.

Before the 1993 bombing, the garage under the World Trade Center provided parking for up to 2,000 vehicles. After the attack, the Port Authority eliminated public parking and installed bollards and 250 multi-ton planters around the periphery of the complex. These barriers were intended to prevent vehicles from getting close enough to the towers to detonate a bomb that could cause significant damage.
After 9/11, a Manhattan jury found that the Port Authority had analyzed the safety vulnerabilities of the parking garage before the 1993 attack but disregarded recommendations made by security experts in 1985 that it be closed to the public.
