- Description
- 1993 Move Back Team Jacket belonging to Douglas Gene Karpiloff. The thick insulated bright-red metallic zip jacket has gray reflective strips on the arms and back. "PA of NY & NJ | WTC | MOVE BACK TEAM" is printed in white on the back of the jacket as well as in smaller print on the left breast. The jacket has a removable fur-lined hood that attaches with a zipper. The initials "KARP" are written inside the jacket by the label.Â
- Historical Notes
- Native New Yorker Douglas Karpiloff lived in Mamaroneck, New York. He and his wife, Jacqueline, had two children. Douglas had worked at the Port Authority for 30 years. After the 1993 bombing, he led a massive security upgrade at the World Trade Center and was promoted to its security and life safety director in 1999. On September 11, Douglas aided the evacuation of the towers. He was 53 years old.
