- Desk name plate belonging to James M. Gartenberg with the University of Michigan logo on the right and "University of Michigan Club of New York" printed in yellow on the front. "GO BLUE" is printed on the back with the Michigan logo on the left.
- Historical Notes
- Native New Yorker James Gartenberg lived in Manhattan with his wife, Jill, who was pregnant, and their daughter. He served 12 years as president of the local alumni group for the University of Michigan, his alma mater. A real estate broker at Julien J. Studley, James had taken a job in midtown, and September 11 was to be his last day at the company’s 86th-floor North Tower offices. James was 35 years old.
