- Description
- FDNY football jersey belonging to Durrell V. Pearsall, Jr. The jersey is white with "FDNY | 71" printed on the front and "71" printed on the sleeves and back. The jersey is heavily worn, has several stains on it, and the collar has been cut and then pinned together with a safety pin in both the front and back.
- Historical Notes
- Durrell Pearsall was raised and lived in Hempstead on Long Island. Much of his life revolved around FDNY Rescue Company 4. Captain of the FDNY football team, Durrell was also a drummer in the FDNY Emerald Society Pipes and Drums and had a tattoo of the band’s logo. On September 11, Firefighter Pearsall responded to the towers. He was 34 years old.
