Rubbing
- Description
- Name rubbing left at the 9/11 Memorial in memory of Thomas Tong. A handwritten note below the name reads: "Dad, we miss you. We will never forget you. 9-11-15." A chain of 12 colorful small origami cranes is attached to the rubbing with tape.
- Historical Notes
- Manhattan native Thomas Tong lived in Battery Park City with his wife, Elena, and their young daughter. On weekends, Thomas liked to play basketball on a nearby court, take his daughter for walks in Rockefeller Park, and visit his siblings in New Jersey. On September 11, Thomas was on the 97th floor of the South Tower at Fiduciary Trust, where he was an assistant vice president. He was 31 years old.

This rubbing was left on the S-34 parapet of the South Pool on the 9/11 Memorial for Thomas Tong on September 11, 2015.
