- Historical Notes
- Born in Cork, Ireland, Ruth McCourt moved to the United States at age 17. She lived in New London, Connecticut, with her husband, David, and their young daughter, Juliana. Ruth loved fashion and had worked as a model. On September 11, she was heading to California with Juliana on Flight 175. They planned to vacation with a friend, Paige Farley-Hackel, who was aboard Flight 11. Ruth was 45 years old.
Newton, Massachusetts, native Juliana McCourt lived in New London, Connecticut, with her parents, David and Ruth. Juliana’s family said that she had a great sense of humor and was nurturing, like her mother. On September 11, Ruth and Juliana boarded Flight 175 for a trip to Disneyland. There, they were to meet up with Juliana’s godmother, Paige Farley-Hackel, who was on Flight 11. Juliana was four years old.
