- Manuel Molina lived in the Bronx with his wife, Mercedes, and their children. He was born in the Dominican Republic, where he helped his brother keep 50 fighting roosters, including several champions. Manuel sent money there to buy feed for them. An ABM Industries maintenance man assigned to the World Trade Center, on September 11, he was on the South Tower’s 107th floor. Manuel was 31 years old.
Curator's Comment
Manuel Molina loved dancing, particularly salsa and merengue, a pastime he picked up in his native Dominican Republic. In New York City, he enjoyed spending Friday nights watching baseball and playing dominoes with his friends. His wife remembered his frequent use of SpellBound, his favorite scented body powder. Manuel’s family composed a note after his death which reads, “The heart is never like the sand in the beach. Waves cannot erase what once was written . . . you will never be forgotten.”
