Remembering 9/11: One Stamp at a Time

- Framed collage made from thousands of postage stamps and titled Remembering 9/11: One Stamp at a Time, 2006. The stamps are assembled in two columns to represent the Twin Towers. A large transparent film overlays the stamps, with the names of the 9/11 victims printed on the film. The transparency of the film over the stamps makes the names appear to float. The piece was created by Lucas Berstein and Erica Feinstein, both in elementary school at the time.

- Lucas Berstein and Erica Feinstein, elementary school classmates in Pennsylvania, assembled this collage of nearly 3,000 distinctive U.S. and international postage stamps, one to memorialize each victim of the attacks. A thin plastic film bearing the names of victims overlays the stamps. For several years, the collage was exhibited at Berstein and Feinstein’s school. Berstein’s uncle, Morton H. Frank, was killed on 9/11 while working for Cantor Fitzgerald on the 104th floor of the North Tower.
