- White T-shirt created for a memorial event dedicated in memory of the PAPD victims lost on 9/11, including John P. Skala. The front of the shirt includes the image of a runner and printed text: The 16th Annual | Lincoln | Tunnel | Challenge | Fun Run | Sunday April 28, 2002 | To Benefit | Special Olympics New Jersey | Dedicated in memory of the officers | who made the ultimate sacrifice on 9-11-01." The event sponsors are listed at the bottom. The PAPD logo is printed on the upper right side of the shirt. The Special Olympics New Jersey logo is printed on its upper left side.
- Historical Notes
- A native of Passaic, New Jersey, John Skala lived in Clifton. In his free time, he volunteered at the New Jersey Special Olympics and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. He also liked to sing at karaoke bars. A PAPD officer, John was assigned to the Lincoln Tunnel and worked part time as a paramedic. On September 11, Officer Skala reported to the towers from a New Jersey courtroom. He was 31 years old.
