- Gray T-shirt created for a memorial event held in memory of John P. Skala. On the left breast of the shirt is an image of a looped ribbon and printed text: "In Memory of | OFFICER | John P. Skala | 'The Ones Left Standing' | Charity Beefsteak'." On the back is printed text: "'The Ones Left Standing | Charity Beefsteak'" with images of an American flag, the Twin Towers, the Port Authority Police Department 9/11 commemorative logo, and the logo for the Passaic-Clifton | MICU | N.J. Text within the image reads: "In Memory | of | Officer | John P. Skala."
- Historical Notes
- A native of Passaic, New Jersey, John Skala lived in Clifton. In his free time, he volunteered at the New Jersey Special Olympics and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. He also liked to sing at karaoke bars. A PAPD officer, John was assigned to the Lincoln Tunnel and worked part time as a paramedic. On September 11, Officer Skala reported to the towers from a New Jersey courtroom. He was 31 years old.
