Uniform Coat
- Description
- 101st Airborne uniform coat belonging to Charles W. Magee. The coat is army green with the Airborne patch featuring the bald eagle on the upper right sleeve and the 1st Cavalry Division patch on the upper left sleeve. A small patch with three service bars embroidered on it is affixed to the lower right sleeve.
- Historical Notes
- Brooklyn native Charles Magee lived with his wife, Janet, in Wantagh, Long Island. A parachute rigger during his military service in the Vietnam War, Charles went on to fly his own plane and skydive as a hobby. He was the chief operating engineer for Silverstein Properties with an office on the North Tower’s 88th floor. On September 11, he was seen helping evacuees on the 46th floor. He was 51 years old.
