- Gray T-shirt created for a memorial event held in memory of Candace Lee Williams. An image of a willow tree, the logo for the Friends of Candace organization, is printed on the front, along with text: "The | Candace Lee Williams | 5K Run to Remember | September 24, 2011 | Presented by | Friends of Candace" and a website address. The back of the shirt lists the event sponsors.
- Historical Notes
- Born in Danbury, Connecticut, Candace Williams lived in Dorchester in Boston, Massachusetts. A sophomore business administration student at Northeastern University, Candace had interned at the World Trade Center in spring 2001. After returning to school for her summer term, she boarded Flight 11 in Boston on September 11 to visit a friend in California before starting her next semester. She was 20 years old.
Curator's Comment
In 2011, friends of Candace Williams launched an annual five-kilometer run in her memory. The course ended at her alma mater, Immaculate High School in Danbury, Connecticut, and raised money for a scholarship at the school, where Williams had participated in cross-country and track and field.
