- Born in Cottonwood, Arizona, Gary Bird lived in Tempe with his wife, Donna, and their two children. Gary kept horses and relished being outdoors on multiday trail rides. On September 10, he began a new position as a senior vice president at Marsh & McLennan. Though he would be based in Phoenix, on September 11, Gary was at an orientation meeting high in the North Tower. He was 51 years old.
