- Description
- White T-shirt belonging to Edward Hobbs Luckett II. The shirt features an illustration of the Twin Towers on the front with helicopters circling them. The emergency services response is illustrated at the base of the towers. "Cantor Fitzgerald" is printed above the image and "TERROR AT THE TOWERS" is printed to the right. On the back of the shirt is text: "I SURVIVED | TERROR | AT THE | TOWERS | February 26, 1993."
- Historical Notes
- Larchmont, New York, native Edward Luckett lived in Fair Haven, New Jersey, with his wife, Lisa, and their three children. Raised around boats by his father, Edward sailed competitively in Newport, Block Island, and Bermuda. He often took the ferry to work at Cantor Fitzgerald, where he was a vice president and partner. On September 11, he was at work on the North Tower’s 105th floor. He was 40 years old.
Curator's Comment
This T-shirt was distributed to employees at Cantor Fitzgerald to commemorate their evacuation during the terrorist bombing at the World Trade Center on February 26, 1993. Luckett and many other survivors of the 1993 terrorist attack later died on September 11, 2001.
