Curator's Comment
From an early age, Jennifer Tzemis loved to dance with her sisters. She attended classes at a studio on Staten Island and participated in competitions. Jennifer received many awards at these events, including this trophy. In addition to studying ballet, tap, jazz, and lyrical dance, she also taught ballet and tap to children. Jennifer’s sister Sophia recalled “the expression and joy” that characterized her dancing and how Jennifer felt the activity “should be shared by everyone."
