- Born in El Paso, Texas, Gilbert Granados lived in Hicksville, Long Island, with his wife, Teresa, and their two teenage daughters. He was a U.S. Coast Guard reservist whose military bent showed in his hobbies: reading Tom Clancy novels and studying the Civil War. Gilbert was a loss control consultant at Aon Corporation. On September 11, he was at work on the South Tower’s 98th floor. He was 51 years old.
