Lapel Pin
- Description
- Lapel pin created in memory of James Patrick Leahy. The pin is two overlapping shields, each labeled "City of New York Police." One shield is silver with blue and printed text: "6th Pct | NYPD." The second shield is silver with black and Leahy's badge number, "8943."
- Historical Notes
- James Leahy was born and raised on Staten Island. He lived there with his wife, Marcela, and their three sons. To save for the boys’ education, James worked two part-time jobs while serving as an NYPD officer at the 6th Precinct. On September 11, Officer Leahy responded to the North Tower, carrying supplies up to firefighters. He was 38 years old.
