- Native New Yorker Christopher Racaniello lived in Douglaston, Queens. He and his fiancée, Lisa, planned to marry in November 2001 and mailed their wedding invitations on September 8. Christopher worked in operations at Cantor Fitzgerald, a firm he joined at age 17. He aspired to a job on the trading desk. On September 11, Christopher was at his office on the North Tower’s 101st floor. He was 30 years old.
Curator's Comment
Christopher Racaniello was his neighbor Lisa’s first kiss at 13 years old. They dated for a month. While their teenage romance did not last, their friendship did. They learned break-dance moves together and talked on the phone for hours. In 1998, they decided to give their teenage crush another try. That same year, Christopher and Lisa made this necklace while attending a nephew’s birthday party. After 15 years of friendship and love, the two became engaged in 2000. They mailed out their wedding invitations on September 8, 2001.
