Letterman Patch
- Description
- Letterman patch belonging to Paul Regan Cascio. The letter is an orange "M" with a blue backing for Manhasset High School, Manhasset, Long Island. Three small gold-colored pins are attached to the letter, one of a male swimmer, one of a double "C" with an arrow going through it for cross-country, and one for baseball depicting a base plate with two bats in an "X" shape and with a baseball on top.
- Historical Notes
- Manhasset, Long Island, native Paul Cascio lived in Soho, Manhattan. Paul was such a fan of the band U2 that he once traveled to Ireland for a concert. In February 2001, Paul joined Euro Brokers as a vice president of its agency desk. He spoke of spending a few years on Wall Street, then becoming a history teacher. On September 11, Paul was at work on the 84th floor of the South Tower. He was 23 years old.
Curator's Comment
Paul Cascio earned this varsity letter at Manhasset Secondary School on Long Island, where he participated in cross-country, swimming, and baseball. As an adult, he enjoyed bringing his childhood friends together for weekend ski trips and to watch sporting events. Paul’s friend Ryan Cremins recalled watching New York Yankees games together every season. Whenever the baseball team fell behind during the playoffs, Paul would offer up this reassurance to his friend: “Relax, Cremins, we got this. We’ve been doing this for years."
