Goggles
- Description
- Bollé brand ski goggles belonging to John F. Iskyan. The goggles are blue with the lenses tinted red. The elastic headband is also blue with "Bollé" printed in white. The goggles came with a fabric storage pouch and a cloth for cleaning the lenses.
- Historical Notes
- Long Island native John Iskyan lived in Wilton, Connecticut, with his wife, Margaret, and their two children. John had played lacrosse in high school and coached a youth team as an adult. He also enjoyed skiing with his children. A first vice president at Cantor Fitzgerald, John had been with the firm for 19 years. On September 11, he was at work on the North Tower’s 105th floor. John was 41 years old.
Curator's Comment
John Iskyan became an avid skier while attending St. Michael’s College in Colchester, Vermont. His favorite mountain to ski was nearby Mount Mansfield. Two weeks after his college graduation, John began work at Cantor Fitzgerald. During his 19-year career with the company, John made time for family activities despite a long commute to lower Manhattan from Wilton, Connecticut. At home, John shared his love of the outdoors with his two children, teaching them to ski when they were three years old.
