- Historical Notes
- A native of the Bronx, Ira Zaslow lived in North Woodmere on Long Island with his wife of 31 years, Felice. The couple had two grown sons. Ira’s pastimes included snow skiing in winter, growing vegetables in summer, and playing paddleball on weekends year-round. On September 11, Ira was on the 38th floor of the North Tower at Lehman Brothers, where he worked as a financial analyst. He was 55 years old.
Curator's Comment
Ira Zaslow spent his childhood playing stickball and basketball. He took up the game of paddleball as an adult and played year-round both indoors and outdoors. Ira relished playing paddleball on the weekends, rising as early at 6:00 a.m. to meet his friends. According to Ira’s son Bryan, the weekend games were “pure happiness for him” and, once on the court, he would do “anything to play more."
