- Historical Notes
- Oak Park, Illinois, native Patrick Brown lived in Manhattan. He had a psychology degree and karate black belt. Paddy became a U.S. Marine at 17, serving in Vietnam and rising to sergeant. He joined the FDNY in 1977 and was among its most decorated members. On September 11, Captain Brown responded with Ladder Company 3 and was last heard on a phone call from the North Tower’s 35th floor. He was 48 years old.
