Hard Hat
- Description
- Plastic bump-style hard hat with cap-style brim and interior ratchet suspension. The hard hat is gray with "THINK | SAFETY" printed on the sides. Labels are attached to the front with text: "MST1 SEMMLING | U.S. COAST GUARD."
- Historical Notes
- Diane Semmling was a U.S. Coast Guard reservist when she self-dispatched to lower Manhattan on 9/11. At Ground Zero she worked to distribute food and water to rescue workers for the first few days following the terrorist attacks. She wore this hard hat and personalized it with printed labels. MST stands for her role in the Coast Guard, Marine Science Technician.
