Cup
- Description
- Royal Tara porcelain cup belonging to Patricia A. Kuras.
- Historical Notes
- Patricia Kuras was born in Brooklyn. She lived on Staten Island and cared for her mother. Their home was decorated with Patricia’s treasured collections of records, Christmas ornaments, and her memorabilia from a trip to Ireland. On September 11, Patricia was on the 93rd floor of the North Tower at Marsh & McLennan, where she was the facilities manager. She was 42 years old.
Curator's Comment
Shortly after her mother, Frances, suffered a stroke, Patricia Kuras bought a home on Staten Island for the two of them to share with a live-in nurse. Patricia “always put herself second so that the family’s needs came first,” attested her older brother. Patricia and Frances shared an appreciation for Irish music and traveled to Ireland together in 1996. Memorabilia from their trip, including this cup, decorated their home. Patricia brought Frances everywhere she could, and when the weather was nice, Frances would sit at the end of the driveway, waiting for Patricia to come home from work.
