- Description
- Memorial ribbon created in memory of Michael E. Roberts. "Champions of Courage, " "Our Own Hero," "'Nut House' E-214 L-111," and "Michael Roberts FDNY" are printed on the green and white ribbons in gold-colored text. The ribbons are attached with a small cut-out photograph of Roberts wearing his fire helmet and a small gold-colored metal Irish Claddagh pin.
- Historical Notes
- Brooklyn-born Michael Roberts lived in Roxbury in Queens. Michael, who was single, often volunteered to cover holiday shifts at FDNY Engine Company 214 so fellow firefighters could be with their families. Michael’s badge number was 6611—the number carried by his father and an uncle before him. On September 11, Firefighter Roberts responded to the Twin Towers. He was 31 years old.
