Historical Notes: Born in New Hyde Park on Long Island, Jonathan Uman lived in Westport, Connecticut, with his wife, Julie, and their two young children. He played bass guitar in a band and listened to Shakespeare during commutes to eSpeed, the Cantor Fitzgerald subsidiary where he was a director of mergers and acquisitions. On September 11, he was at work on the North Tower’s 105th floor. He was 33 years old.
