Car Hood, Recovered
- Description
- Recovered car hood from a damaged U.S. Customs Service vehicle. The hood is dark blue and bears the Great Seal of the United States in the center with "UNITED STATES | CUSTOMS SERVICE" printed in white. The number "1326" is spray-painted in red on the right side of the hood.
- Historical Notes
- Nearly 1,400 damaged vehicles were recovered from around Ground Zero and transported to Fresh Kills Landfill for search and disposal. This hood was recovered and saved.
