- Plush gorilla left at the 9/11 Memorial in memory of Lindsay C. Herkness III. A handwritten note is tied to the gorilla with a gold-colored ribbon. The note reads: "Dearest Gorilla | I miss you. | Baby Gorilla."

- Friends said Lindsay Herkness was not just a resident of New York City but a connoisseur of it. A New York native, he threw lavish parties in his Upper East Side apartment and frequently toured the city with his dog. He also mailed witty Christmas cards from around the world. On September 11, Lindsay, a senior vice president at Morgan Stanley, was at work on the South Tower’s 73rd floor. He was 58 years old.

This stuffed toy was left on the S-46 parapet of the South Pool on the 9/11 Memorial for Lindsay C. Herkness III on September 11, 2019.
