- Description
- Prayer card created in memory of Michael L. Bocchino and left at the 9/11 Memorial. The front of the card features a stylized photograph of Bocchino in his formal FDNY uniform. The back of the card includes printed text: "Firefighter | Michael L. Bocchino | Battalion 48 | 11/25/1955 - 9/11/2001" and the Fireman's Prayer.
- Historical Notes
- Lifelong Brooklyn resident Michael Bocchino lived with his elderly parents and two uncles. A firefighter for 22 years, Michael kept a scrapbook about blazes he fought. He served as a chief’s aide with FDNY Battalion 48, helping to deploy units. On September 11, Firefighter Bocchino was last seen at the South Tower. He was 45 years old.

This prayer card was left on parapet S-19 on the South Pool of the 9/11 Memorial for Michael L. Bocchino on September 11, 2015.
