Oil Stock
- Description
- Gold-colored holy oil stock with a cross engraved on the top and "OI" engraved on the side for Oleum infirmorum, or oil of the sick/oil of healing. A ring is hinged on the bottom. The stock is somewhat tarnished, and the object smells like rose oil.
- Historical Notes
- On September 11, 2001, Father Don Milligan was a member of the Massachusetts Corps of Fire Chaplains. Following the attacks, Milligan and a group of fellow chaplains reported to Ground Zero serving at the temporary morgue and comforting grieving family members who visited the site. He retained several mementos from his time at the site including the container of holy oil he had carried with him during this Ground Zero chaplaincy.
