- Historical Notes
- Until their destruction on 9/11, the Twin Towers dominated the Manhattan skyline. Symbols of American ingenuity and audacity, they provided an immediate visual association with the irrepressible vitality of New York City. Appearing again and again in the movies, the towers became permanently etched into the public imagination.
Curator's Comment
In 1985, Chuck Norris approached director Joseph Zito and asked if he would direct him in a movie about terrorism in America. Sixteen years before Americans would actually experience the dark realities of terrorism at home, this film was to be a fantasy about strength and heroism in the face of ideological and physical attack. This original poster hung on the walls of the director's home for over thirty years before it was donated to the 9/11 Museum.
