Handwritten note left at the 9/11 Memorial in memory of Monique Effie DeJesus. The note was written on the back of a printed kiosk Memorial map and reads:
"My beloved | Monique Dejesus, | Not a day goes by | that I don't miss | you and I wish | you were here with | me now. May you | be resting in peace | Loving you always | + never forgetting you. | Your Titi 'Ely' Elizabeth Cacace." - Historical Notes
- A lifelong resident of Brooklyn, Monique DeJesus was known as her family’s event planner, and she set up friends and relatives with dates and job prospects. She met her boyfriend, Lloyd Brown, on the job at Cantor Fitzgerald, where she worked as an administrative assistant. On September 11, both were at their offices high in the North Tower. Monique was 28 years old.
Curator's Comment
The note was left on the N-29 parapet of the North Pool on the 9/11 Memorial for Monique Effie DeJesus on September 11, 2014. The note was folded and placed in the hollow of the name.
