Patch, Recovered
- Description
- Recovered World Trade Center Security uniform patch. The patch is white with blue embroidered trim and text that reads: "WORLD TRADE CENTER | SECURITY." A graphic of the Twin Towers is embroidered in the center. The patch is wrinkled and dirty.
- Historical Notes
- Hoping to assist with the rescue and recovery operations at Ground Zero, Pat Ivory, a retired New York Police Department Officer, reported to the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center on September 13, 2001. Ivory was eventually stationed at the Fresh Kills Landfill on Staten Island to assist with sifting through debris from Ground Zero. He kept a number of objects he couldn’t bear to throw away, including this WTC Security uniform patch.
