- Red softball jersey belonging to Robert Chin. "Fiduciary | 16" is printed in white on the front. The number 16 is printed on the back of the jersey as well.
- Historical Notes
- A native New Yorker and the son of Chinese immigrants, Robert Chin lived in Brooklyn. He spent time with his sister and helped support his parents with his earnings as a Xerox associate contracted by Fiduciary Trust. On September 11, Robert was at the firm’s offices at work on the 97th floor of the South Tower. He was 33 years old.
Curator's Comment
Brooklyn native Robert Chin loved baseball and softball, and particularly enjoyed playing on the Fiduciary Trust softball team. Known around the office as “the singing, photo-taking, softball-playing mail clerk,” Robert was well-liked by his colleagues. In a game against rival firm Cantor Fitzgerald, a company with offices in the North Tower, Robert made his first league hit down the third base line. His teammates celebrated by signing congratulatory messages on a softball they later presented to him. The signatures include those of Pedro Francisco Checo and Ruben Esquilin, Jr., two of Robert’s friends who were also killed on 9/11.
