- Port Authority Police Department memorial lapel pin created in memory of John P. Skala. The pin is a PAPD police badge with "JOHN P. SKALA | 1639" etched on the badge and a small American flag waving from its top.
- Historical Notes
- A native of Passaic, New Jersey, John Skala lived in Clifton. In his free time, he volunteered at the New Jersey Special Olympics and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. He also liked to sing at karaoke bars. A PAPD officer, John was assigned to the Lincoln Tunnel and worked part time as a paramedic. On September 11, Officer Skala reported to the towers from a New Jersey courtroom. He was 31 years old.
