- On Sunday, September 9, 2018, family members, National Park Service representatives, dignitaries, and invited guests witnessed the formal dedication of The Tower of Voices, the final component of the Flight 93 National Memorial. These lapel pins were distributed to attendees. The pin depicts the tower structure of the Memorial, which rises to the symbolic height of 93 feet and encloses unique metal wind chimes, each representing the distinctive voice of one of the 40 passengers and crew members killed aboard the hijacked aircraft on 9/11. The Tower’s concept is to allow those “voices” to continue reverberating, with their blended sounds eternally fluctuating due to wind currents, as they welcome visitors to the Memorial park.
