- Westwood, New Jersey, native Gary Albero lived in Emerson with his wife, Aracelis, and their young son. A New York Yankees fan who mentored teenagers and volunteered at a homeless shelter, Gary was an insurance broker and vice president at Swett & Crawford Group, an Aon Corporation subsidiary. On September 11, he was at a meeting in Aon’s offices on the 98th floor of the South Tower. Gary was 39 years old.
Curator's Comment
This memoir documents the three-month-long, 1,200-mile solo trek that Richard John Albero made from Tampa to the Bronx in New York City in 2015, in memory of his nephew Gary M. Albero, who was killed in the South Tower on 9/11.
