Curator's Comment
Vladimir Savinkin moved to New York City in 1996 with his family from Odesa, Ukraine. He kept strong ties to his birthplace, delivering pizza as a teenager to earn enough money for a visit. In New York, 16-year-old Vladimir attended Pace University, and he was hired as an accountant at Cantor Fitzgerald by age 21. His family described him as confident and hardworking beyond his years. According to his father, as Vladimir left for work on 9/11, he called out, “see you later.”
