- Memorial card created in memory of John F. McNamara (FDNY). The front of the card is a photograph of McNamara. The back of the card includes printed text that reads: "In Loving Memory of | John F. McNamara | April 26, 1965 | August 9, 2009," followed by a poem.
- Historical Notes
- John F. McNamara, born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, was a dedicated member of the FDNY. He was first assigned to Engine 220/Ladder 122 in Park Slope, Brooklyn, then Engine 234/Ladder 123 in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. He was also a volunteer firefighter in Blue Point, New York. McNamara worked hundreds of hours at Ground Zero during the rescue and recovery period and was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in 2006, linked to his exposure at Ground Zero. He died in 2009. He was 44 years old.
