- Painting on canvas created by a bereaved child related to a 9/11 victim. This canvas is part of the Art for Heart project and depicts a dark blend of paint with yellow flame-like shapes. At the top right is written: "UP" and in the bottom right is written: "DOWN."
- Historical Notes
- Art for Heart was a collaborative art project dating to 2002, spearheaded by Christy Ferer, widow of 9/11 victim Neil David Levin. Its impetus arose from Ferer’s then-16-year-old daughter, Ali, who was mourning the loss of her stepfather in the World Trade Center attacks. Ali conceived of Art for Heart as a way to unite children like herself who shared this tragic bond. The project invited bereaved children to create canvas squares for assembly into larger memorial panels.
