Matchbook
- Description
- Matchbook from the Vista International Hotel located at 3 World Trade Center. The matchbook is brown with "VISTA" printed on the front flap in gold-colored text. On the inside of the front flap is a printed list of all the Vista hotels in the United States and their respective phone numbers.
- Historical Notes
- Opening in 1981, the Vista International was the first hotel to open in lower Manhattan since the 1830s. Located in 3 World Trade Center at the base of the Twin Towers, it was managed by Hilton International and included meeting spaces, eating establishments, and a gym. It was sold in 1995 to Marriott following extensive renovations resulting from damage caused by the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. The building was completely destroyed on 9/11.
