Envelope, Recovered
- Description
- Recovered red envelope addressed to Lawry and Charlie Meister in Pacific Palisades, California. The envelope is crumpled and torn around the edges, and residual dust is slightly visible. The envelope is postmarked “Portsmouth NH | 10 Sept. 2001.”
- Historical Notes
- Thousands of pieces of paper filled the sky following the crash of two hijacked planes into the Twin Towers. Carried on air currents, much of the paper landed on streets, rooftops, and yards in lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. This piece of mail, postmarked on September 10th in New Hampshire and addressed to a California residence, was likely aboard one of the planes.
