Collected Dust
- Description
- Plastic bag filled with collected World Trade Center debris/dust, including rock, concrete, paper, and other materials. The inner bag containing the dust appears to be a used respirator storage bag. The outer bag is taped closed.
- Historical Notes
- Immediately after the collapse of the Twin Towers, layers of thick gray dust and ash coated streets, vehicles, windows, and the interiors of homes and offices throughout lower Manhattan. The dust was a presence for months. Some people collected dust in an impulse to preserve and document what they experienced.
