Constructed adjacent to the Medical Examiner's East 30th Street mortuary facility space, the Office of Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) Memorial Park provided a designated staging area for the victims of the World Trade Center attacks' incoming human remains.
This object is a cross-section of a shady willow tree which stood in the OCME Memorial Park. The tree was planted in 2006 and destroyed as a result damage it sustained during Hurricane Sandy in 2012. This cross-section was preserved when the tree was removed.
