- Navy blue windbreaker jacket with a tan zipper and collar and an over-zipper button flap. The jacket has the municipal seal embroidered in white on the right breast with white embroidered text that reads: "MAYOR'S OFFICE | EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT." The back of the jacket includes a larger version of the municipal seal and text.
- Historical Notes
- Timothy Brown, known as Tim, was a New York City firefighter who began his career in the South Bronx in the 1980s. He later became a member of New York Task Force One, one of FEMA’s Urban Search and Rescue Teams. In 1998, Brown was assigned to the Mayor’s Office of Emergency Management, located on the 23rd floor of the 7 World Trade Center building. On the morning of September 11, he was eating breakfast on the building’s mezzanine level when hijacked Flight 11 struck the North Tower. Brown assisted the FDNY with rescue operations throughout the attack and narrowly escaped injury during the successive building collapses.
Of the 343 firefighters killed on 9/11, Brown counted 93 among his friends, including his two best friends, FDNY Captain Terence S. Hatton of Rescue 1 and FDNY Ladder 3 Captain Patrick John Brown.
