Flag Fragment, Recovered
- Description
- Recovered fragment of the lower half of an American flag. Its remaining four-and-a quarter red stripes and four white stripes are visibly soiled and have various abrasions and punctures.
- Historical Notes
- On September 11 and September 12, paramedic Antonio Suarez reported to the World Trade Center to assist survivors and search for victims’ remains. After coming across a tattered fragment of a large American flag within the wreckage, he decided to preserve it as a framed keepsake of his time at Ground Zero.
