Design Plan
Shadows + Wall
- Description
- Foam core submission board designed for the World Trade Center Site Memorial Competition in 2003, titled “Shadows + Wall.” This design plan recreates the shadows cast by the Twin Towers the moment they collapsed. The shadows, case on a horizontal surface, are represented by glass pavers and reflect light and image like a mirror. This design would extend out of the boundaries of the memorial plaza onto the sidewalks and pavement. Reflecting pools would be used in the tower footprints to reflect the sky, staying lit overnight. Victims' names would be inscribed on the Slurry Wall.
