Design Plan
Thread of Remembrance
- Description
- Foam core submission board designed for the World Trade Center Site Memorial Competition in 2003, titled “Thread of Remembrance.” This design plan proposes weaving the outline of the shadows of the Twin Towers across the surrounding landscape as a permanent reminder of their presence. The “shadow” would be constructed from a thin steel thread and embedded along the sidewalk and up the side of buildings as the shadows of the towers had appeared at 2:52 p.m. The time is significant, as it is the moment the shadow stretched to the height of the original towers. This idea also reflects Studio Libeskind’s “Wedge of Light” concept.
